At Château Méaume, we believe that the preservation of our environment is of utmost importance. Alan Johnson-Hill understood the deep connection between the land and the vine. Since the 1980’s he not only looked after the land along traditional non intensive and unstressed viticultural lines, but also pioneered what are now called ‘sustainable practices’.
His far sightedness could be seen in his care about water management, animal husbandry on the farm and doing the right thing for nature so that the vines flourished in harmony with the land. His huge legacy, and those cumulatively hundreds of years before, are obviously important to our family and can be seen in the quality of our wine.
